Mintz Group Leaders Once Again Recognized by WWL

Please join us in congratulating Jim MintzIan Casewell, and Christopher Weil who have been recognized by Who’s Who Legal as global experts in the practice of asset recovery.

Ian Casewell, a partner who runs the Mintz Group’s London office and co-heads the firm’s international asset-tracing unit – specializes in providing investigative support to large-scale disputes and fraud matters, and in tracing assets around the world. He has been helping creditors enforce judgments in hundreds of cases over the past 20 years. Working for individuals, companies and governments, his cases are invariably multi-layered, frequently cross-border, and often in offshore jurisdictions. Ian and team have expertise in areas they have found crucial to asset tracing and recovery, including: Banking, Offshore Structures, Shipping, Real Estate, Private Aircraft and Internet Forensics.

Christopher Weil, a partner based in Washington, D.C., who also co-heads international asset-tracing and leads the firm’s antitrust practice– focuses exclusively on complex disputes — ranging from corporate litigation to international arbitration claims to trade disputes and corporate reputation management. Chris has pioneered creative investigative asset tracing techniques in the energy and extractive industries tracking the shipment of commodities, and seeking injunctive relief in multiple jurisdictions to help enforce multibillion dollar judgments.

Jim Mintz, founder of Mintz Group, has spent more than thirty years conducting investigations all over the world, primarily for law firms and general counsel. In the 1970s he helped pioneer the use of sophisticated resources as an in-house investigator at a Washington, D.C. law firm, about which Newsweek said: “What sets [them] apart — and a few others around the nation — is their ability to take comprehensive looks at complicated situations and make sense out of them.”

The team has also been recognized by Chambers and Partners, which researches and ranks the best lawyers and legal partners worldwide. Chambers quoted Mintz Group clients as saying: “For complex asset investigation, they are top of the chain.” And Mintz Group is “not trying to do all things, which a lot do in this sector. They know what they are, which is an investigative shop, and that’s their pitch. They have been doing this for a while now, they have strong leadership and they’re highly competent.”
